Spalding man gets jail after guilty plea

06/07/2026

A 31-year-old man from Spalding has been jailed for a string of offences, including dangerous driving.

Appearing in Norwich Crown Court on June 26, he was sentenced to 19 months imprisonment, ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge and disqualified from driving for four years and three months, after which he will be required to take an extended driving test. He had earlier pleaded guilty to a string of offences: dangerous driving, possession of a Class B drug, handling stolen goods, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.

On January 29, 2026, the man failed to stop for police when driving through Burnham Market in Norfolk. Attempting to escape, he drove at speeds of over 90 miles per hour, dangerously overtaking stationary vehicles, driving onto the wrong side of the road and mounting the pavement. The vehicle then crashed into a business property, damaging the building.

The driver then attempted to escape on foot, but was caught by police and arrested. The Land Rover Discovery Sport he had been driving had fake number plates, and had been identified as a vehicle stolen from Bedfordshire in August 2025.
