Milton Keynes man handed 15 years in jail after failing to attend trial

On June 29, the trial of a 31-year-old man from Milton Keynes was concluded when the judge sentenced him to 15 years in prison for causing death by dangerous driving. The accused had failed to attend the trial and was convicted and sentenced in absentia.

The horrific accident occurred on December 4, 2022, when the defendant was driving a Peugeot 508 between Bond Avenue roundabout and Fenny Locks roundabout in Milton Keynes. He was driving on the wrong side of the road when he collided head on with a Fiat 500. Tests showed that his alcohol levels were about 2.5 times the legal limit at the time of the accident. His 7-month-old daughter died from severe injuries sustained in the crash. Investigations showed that she had not been secured in an appropriate baby-seat, which significantly increased the seriousness of her injuries. Her father left the scene of the accident on foot, and was later arrested at his home address.

The defendant’s current whereabouts are unknown, and Thames Police are currently trying to locate him. They have asked the public to assist, stressing that they should not approach him, but report any sightings to the police.
