Jake Steel, 30, of Charlesworth Street, Crewe, has been fined £500 in relation to an incident in July 2023.
Steel had been driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Eardswick Lane in Minshull Vernon, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall, sustaining serious injuries.
Appearing at Chester Crown Court on October 29, 2025, Steel entered a guilty plea to driving without due care and attention, also known as careless driving. In addition to the fine, Judge Patrick Thompson ordered Steel to pay £200 in court costs, and added 8 penalty points to his driving licence.
Steel had originally been charged with dangerous driving, and his case was due to go to trial that same week, but the court accepted his guilty plea to the lesser offence of careless driving and proceeded to sentencing.
