Motorbike racing star banned from driving

30/04/2026

TV presenter and racing star Guy Martin has been given a mandatory six-month driving disqualification after being caught speeding in two separate incidents.

Martin is perhaps best known as the presenter of popular TV show, Speed with Guy Martin. Before branching into TV work, he had a stellar racing career, participating many times in the Isle of Man TT Races, where he achieved 17 podium finishes. He is known for multiple attempts to break various speed records, including the world record for the fastest tractor.

On July 15, 2025, speed cameras caught Martin riding a Honda motorcycle at 46mph on the A50 near Leicester in a 40-mph zone. On March 19 this year, he was again caught riding at 78mph on the A43 near Brackley, when a temporary limit of 50 mph was in effect.

With at least 12 points on his licence following these offences, Martin was sentenced in Loughborough Magistrates’ Court to a six-month driving ban. He accepted the ban, and declined to make an exceptional hardship argument. The magistrate ordered him to pay fines, victim surcharges and costs totalling £1,329.

If you’re facing a driving ban accumulated through too many points on your licence, totting up solicitors can advise you on whether you could avoid the ban by using an exceptional hardship argument. Courts can be reluctant to accept these arguments, and you need to show that the ban would cause truly exceptional hardship to you. We at Auriga Advocates are very experienced in dealing with these types of offences, so please contact us soon for expert advice and support.
