A man from High Wycombe has pleaded guilty to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving after the death of a 58-year-old man.

Appearing in Chelmsford Crown Court on March 26, Ismaeel Malik, 22, admitted the offence of killing victim Norman Case in an incident on a stretch of the A12 near Kelvedon on October 22, 2024. A Mercedes E220, driven by Malik, collided with Case’s Volkswagen Polo and a Mercedes CLA 200. Despite attempts by emergency services to save his life, Mr. Case died at the scene.

Originally from West London, Norman Case had moved to Tolleshunt Major in 2006 to marry his wife, Sarah. They had two children, Fraser, born in 2007 and Kate, born in 2009. He had dropped Fraser and Kate at the school bus stop shortly before the collision that took his life.

Malik was told he must return to court on April 29 for sentencing, when he will almost certainly be sent to prison.
