Driver charged after footballer loses right leg

A motorist has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a 31-year-old footballer had his right leg amputated following a horrific incident on the M27 earlier this year.

On February 1, 2025, Jordan Chiedozie, a former player for AFC Bournemouth and son of former Tottenham Hotspur player John Chiedozie, had been playing with Bashley FC in a Southern League match against Tavistock. As Chiedozie travelled back from the game, he became aware that his car had a flat tyre, and decided to inspect it.

Pulling up on the M27 hard shoulder, he got out and began to check the tyre, when he was hit by another vehicle driven by Anna Bogusiewicz. He sustained multiple injuries and was taken to Southampton Hospital, where he was placed in an induced coma. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to save his right leg, which required amputation.

Ms. Bogusiewicz, 45, will appear in Southampton Crown Court on December 1. She has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of alcohol. If convicted, she could face a custodial sentence of up to five years.
