At around 8:30 am on Wednesday, May 14, Merseyside Police were called to the scene of an accident outside the Aldi supermarket branch on Northway, Maghull.

A blue Renault Zoe had collided with a Suzuki motorcycle. The motorcyclist, Jay Newby-Gallagher, a 34-year-old man from Maghull, was pronounced dead as a result of the collision. Family Liaison Officers are providing support to the deceased’s family. A 34-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

Police investigating the incident are looking into the circumstances of the collision. They have asked the public for any information they may have about the incident, which happened on a busy road during the morning school commute. Police say there will have been a significant amount of traffic in the vicinity at the time, and it is likely that there are several witnesses who can help shed light on the accident. The police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have footage from mobile phones and dashcams that could assist their investigation.
