A 22-year-old man from Swanscombe appeared by video link at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 9 September, facing charges arising from an incident that took place in the Sole Street area of Kent.
The man was dealt with a pair of counts causing death by dangerous driving charges, one count drug possession and one count of not stopping his vehicle at the site of a road accident. He has been ordered to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on 7 October to face these charges.
In connection with the same incident, a man, 21, was arrested on suspicion of the same dangerous driving offence, and a women, 19, was arrested for aiding an offender. Both were subsequently let go on bail pending further investigation.
At about 7.45 am on Sunday, 6 September, three cyclists were riding near Sole Street, a village between Gravesend and Dartford, when the defendant allegedly lost control of his white vehicle, killing two cyclists and injuring the third. Kent Police have appealed to local residents with dashcam footage or other relevant evidence to come forward and assist with the investigation.
