Broxtowe man jailed after dangerous driving conviction

21/08/2026

On August 13, a 25-year-old man from Broxtowe, Nottinghamshire, was jailed for six years and six months after pleading guilty to three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and one count of perverting the course of justice.

He was also banned from driving for a period of seven years and three months, after which he must take an extended driving test.

On June 22, 2025, the defendant’s Toyota GT-86 mounted the pavement after failing to negotiate a right-hand bend on Derby Road, Nottingham. A 30-mph speed limit was in place because of roadworks near the Queens Medical Centre. The Toyota, which was travelling at about 85 mph, collided with three men returning from a night out. All three sustained serious injuries. The defendant fled the scene and reported his vehicle as stolen, but was arrested a few hours later. He then gave a false account of the events to the police.

Police investigations revealed that he had used smart glasses to record himself driving dangerously on several occasions during the months preceding the accident. Although no recording of the June incident was found, a pair of damaged smart glasses was found in the burning wreckage of the Toyota. Recordings of earlier dangerous driving incidents were discovered on his mobile phone, leading to two further counts of dangerous driving, to which he also pleaded guilty.
