A man from Widnes has been charged in connection with a careless driving offence after a crash in the Knowsley area that left two passengers seriously injured.
At around 2:30 pm on September 20, 2025, a BMW 320 crashed head-on with a Ford Focus on Netherley Road in the Tarbock Green area of Knowsley. A woman travelling in the Ford was seriously injured, with soft tissue injuries and fractures to her chest and spine. Another female passenger sustained a fractured wrist.
Following a police investigation, the driver of the BMW, 47-year-old Jason Dacosta, was charged with causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving. This offence can be tried by the Magistrates’ Court, or can be passed on to the Crown Court, which has the power to impose more severe sentences, including a maximum sentence of 2 years imprisonment. As Dacosta’s case is not deemed to be one of the most serious instances of careless driving, he is appearing at St. Helens Magistrates’ Court.
