Drunk driver jailed in Worcestershire

27/02/2026

Evesham man Mariusz Kosinski has been given a jail sentence of over 10 years for causing death by dangerous driving.

At the sentencing, held on February 13 in Worcester Crown Court, Kosinski’s driving was described as having been erratic and aggressive in the lead up to the accident.

The fatal crash occurred on July 27, 2024, as Kosinski, 37, was driving southbound along the A46 Evesham Bypass. After making dangerous overtaking manoeuvres, he turned sharply to avoid an oncoming vehicle. He then lost control of the BMW, which went on to flip over and land on its roof on the grass verge. The passenger of the car, Pawel Czubacki, also from Evesham, was killed at the scene of the accident.

West Mercia Police conducted a roadside breath test shortly after the accident. This indicated that Kosinski had 80mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath, more than double the legal limit of 35mcgs. He pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at an earlier hearing on August 28, 2025, and was subsequently given a jail sentence of 10 years and 6 months. In addition to his substantial jail sentence, he has been banned from driving for 13 years, after which he must take an extended test should he wish to resume driving.
