A Lincolnshire man has been released on bail after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, in relation to an incident that resulted in the death of a 7-year-old.

Veselin Dudenski, 39, of Cherry Avenue, Branston, Lincolnshire, appeared in Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on October 16 to face the charges.

On January 3, 2025, two vehicles collided on Metheringham Heath Lane, Nocton, with 7-year-old passenger Elsie Gascoigne seriously injured in the crash. She was rushed to hospital for treatment, but sadly died early the following day. Dudenski did not enter a plea, and his case has been sent to Lincoln Crown Court for a plea and pre-trial preparation hearing, to be held on November 13.

Dudenski was released on bail on the condition that he surrenders his passport, remains in the UK and continues to reside at his current address in Branston. If convicted, he could face a substantial jail sentence.

The maximum sentence for causing death by dangerous driving is life imprisonment and a minimum 5-year driving ban, with a mandatory extended retest. The vast majority of adults convicted of the offence will receive a custodial sentence.
