Police from Lancashire Constabulary arrested have arrested three men on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a collision on the A6 ended in the deaths of two men.
Shortly after 10:30 pm on August 8, emergency services received reports of a BMW 1000XR motorcycle colliding with pedestrians on the A6 at Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s from Macclesfield, died at the scene of the accident. One of the pedestrians, 68-year-old Lyndon Wright, died from his injuries the following day.
The other pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, is currently receiving hospital treatment, and her condition has been described as serious but stable. The families of the other three victims are being supported in their bereavement by specially trained officers. Police arrested the three men suspected of causing the crash, but later released them pending further enquiries.
The team investigating the accident are keen to examine any dashcam footage recorded between 10:15pm and 10:45 pm on the M6 between junctions 29 and 31, and on the A6 near Clayton-le-Woods. This and any other relevant footage from doorbell cams or CCTV could be crucial in establishing the exact cause of the accident. Police are urging members of the public to come forward as soon as possible with any information that can help the investigation.
