Staffordshire driver pleads guilty to dangerous driving offence

18/06/2025

Following the recent conviction of a local teenager for dangerous driving, Sergeant Richard Kimberley of Staffordshire Police’s Road Crime Team has reaffirmed the force’s commitment to tackling speeding on the county’s roads.

In 2025 alone, Staffordshire Police has dealt with 16 fatal collisions at the time of writing, and in many of these, driving at excessive speed was a contributing factor.

In April, 19-year-old Dylan Fox had been driving on Sandon Road in Meir when police officers in a parked patrol car spotted him driving above the 30mph speed limit. They followed Fox, who drove away quickly and narrowly avoided colliding with a car travelling ahead of him on the same carriageway. He avoided this car by abruptly swerving into the opposite carriageway.

Appearing in North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday, June 9, Fox pleaded guilty to the charge of dangerous driving and was sentenced to 36 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. He was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work, and to pay court costs. He was also disqualified from driving for 18 months and is required to do an extended retest should he wish to resume driving.
