Leicestershire Police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Leicester on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In the early hours of Saturday, May 17, police were called out to a serious road traffic accident on Blaby Road, Enderby. A Mazda 3 car had crashed into a ditch, killing the driver, and injuring his three passengers. The driver, a young man in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two of the passengers were discharged from hospital after receiving treatment for minor injuries. A third passenger was treated for more serious injuries, which were nevertheless not thought to be life threatening.

Witnesses reported a black VW Golf travelling close to the Mazda at the time of the crash. Following further inquiries, the driver of the car was arrested. Police have appealed to the public for information which may assist them in the investigation, including any relevant dash-cam or mobile phone footage.
