A 19-year-old man was sentenced at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on July 17 following convictions for driving without due care and attention and driving without third-party insurance.
The court at the trial heard that, at around 4pm on August 9, 2025, police had seen the defendant riding an off-road, pit-type motorcycle on Amblecote Road in Kidderminster. He was driving directly towards a marked police car, when he slammed on the brakes, causing his rear wheel to skid.
He then turned the bike, mounted the pavement, performed wheelies and rejoined the road. He drove towards the back of a reversing van, again narrowly avoiding a crash. Overtaking the van, he then attempted to evade the police. However, they had already identified him, and he was voluntarily interviewed and then charged.
Convicted, the man was handed 6 licence points, and ordered to pay a fine of £120, plus £100 in court costs and a victim surcharge of £48.
The defendant already had 9 points on his licence given to him at an earlier court hearing on June 9 this year. These related to offences committed in November 2025. This latest conviction brought his total to 15 points. According to totting up rules, 12 or more points within a three-year period triggers a mandatory driving disqualification.
Police involved in the case have expressed wider concerns about off-road motorcycles being used irresponsibly on public roads, and the real dangers they pose.
