A horrific, four-vehicle crash on the A287 (Farnham Road near Crondall, Hampshire), has left one motorcyclist dead and another with serious injuries.
The collision, which occurred on Saturday 4 July at around 19:40 BST, involved a BMW X3, an LDV Maxus campervan and two Harley Davidson motorcycles. Both motorcycles and the BMW were travelling eastbound, and the campervan was travelling westbound.
One of the motorcyclists, a man in his 50s from Thames Ditton, Surrey, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene. The other biker, a man in his 30s from Farnham, was seriously injured, and is currently undergoing intensive hospital treatment.
The BMW driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless and inconsiderate driving, as well as driving under the influence of drugs. The campervan driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing death by dangerous driving. Both were arrested at the scene of the accident and later bailed, pending further investigation.
Hampshire Police has urged any members of the public with relevant dashcam footage or eyewitness testimony to come forward as they seek to establish the precise chain of events leading to the crash.
