A famed Great British Bake Off judge has received a fresh speeding fine after being caught driving at over 100mph.
On January 9, 2026, Surrey Police recorded Paul Hollywood driving his vehicle at 96mph on the M25, and estimates suggest he reached speeds of 105mph when later driving on the M26. The TV star was accused of ‘bullying’ fellow motorists as part of his motorway speeding. Dashcam footage and witness evidence suggests that he was tailgating cars in the fast lane in order to push them out of his way, sometimes getting as close as 2-5 metres to the car in front.
Hollywood, 60, explained to the police that he was hurrying to take his sick cat to the vet for treatment, but later admitted that this was not a reasonable excuse for his excessive speed. It is not the first time that Hollywood has been caught speeding, with former Bake Off judge Mary Berry reportedly once hitting him with her handbag after riding as a passenger while Hollywood drove at excessive speed.
After pleading guilty to a charge of speeding, the TV baker was sentenced on April 27 at Worthing Crown Court, where he was fined £293, ordered to pay £120 in costs and a victim surcharge of £117. He also had five points added to his licence. A further charge of driving without due care and attention was dropped following interventions by his solicitor.
