A police officer may demand the production of driving documents which can include your driving licence, certificate of insurance and MOT certificate when he stops you.
If you do not have the documentation with you for the officer to examine you will be issued with a form HO/RT 1 which will enable you to produce them within 7 days at a police station of your choice (subject to the police station being open for production of documents).
If the HO/RT 1 requires production of your driving licence then this must be produced in person, if it is only the certificate of insurance and/or the MOT are required to be produced these can be produced by someone on your behalf.
